Jun 16, 2022 · What connection is there with GMOs, cancer and other disease? There is suspicion that since a GMO product has its genes or DNA modified, that this would have a downstream effect on the consumer’s DNA. Cancer is defined by unwelcome DNA changes, so the concern would be valid if true.
There’s no evidence that genetically modified (GM) foods cause cancer in humans. And there aren’t any good explanations for how GM foods could cause cancer. In the US, where GM foods are more common, we haven’t seen more cases of cancer linked to their introduction in the 1990s.
