- POF permits letters, numbers and underscores in a username, but no special characters like @,’&. If your username is not accepted, it’s most likely because it’s been taken by someone else already OR you’re inputting special characters. You can only edit/change your username if you’re a paid member. Free members can’t change their username.

If you’ve been sent a text that has a verification code for a Plenty of Fish account, it means someone has, hopefully accidentally, used your number to try and sign up for an account. Without the code you were texted, they won’t be able to register with your number.
POF search by name. You gotta scroll past some random crap but the search tool is there and works. Just put their username in and search and it’ll pull up their profile, which’ll open in your POF account when you click it. Warning it’s a waste of time.
