Great Britain's Archibald Leach travelled to America to work in vaudeville while still in his teens, but by the 1920s, he had found his break on Broadway, as Cary Grant, on his way to becoming one of Hollywood's grandest of leading men. From 1932 through 1964, the irrespressibly debonair Grant would star in over 70 films, his trademark elastic, yet ever-tolerant countenance bringing grace to screwball comedies like BRINGING UP BABY or ARSENIC AND OLD LACE, while he proved more than capable in more serious roles, as in the 1946 Cole Porter musical biopic NIGHT AND DAY.
