La Louvière était née... Alors qu'au début du 19ème siècle, La Louvière n'était pas même un hameau mais un simple et obscur « lieu-dit », elle prenait rang, un demi-siècle plus tard, parmi les communes les plus importantes du pays. Précisons que ce n'est qu'en 1985 que La Louvière a reçu l'autorisation de porter le titre de ville.
