The new series centered on Captain William Anthony "Buck" Rogers (Gil Gerard), a NASA/USAF pilot who commands Ranger 3, a spacecraft launched in May 1987. Due to a life-support malfunction, Buck is accidentally frozen for 504 years before his spacecraft is discovered adrift in 2491.
Gerard has twice been married, firstly – from 1979 to 1987 – to the actress, producer and former model Connie Sellecca, with whom he has a son called Gilbert ‘Gib’ Vincent Gerard, and secondly to entrepreneur and businesswoman Bobi Leonard between 1987 and 1989.
