Jan 6, 2022 · These studies were key to the development of genetically modified potatoes with reduced acrylamide. The first generation Innate® potatoes were developed from cv. Russet Burbank by reducing Asn1 expression through RNAi, using tuber-specific expression promoters.

A genetically modified potato is a potato that has had its genes modified, using genetic engineering. Goals of modification include introducing pest resistance , tweaking the amounts of certain chemicals produced by the plant, and to prevent browning or bruising of the tubers.
Jan 10, 2022 · Visual markers genes such as glucuronidase, luciferase and green fluorescent protein have also been adopted, although to a lesser extent (Sidorov et al., 1999; Verhees et al., 2002; Rakosy-Tican et al., 2007). Alternatively, marker-free transformation of potato has also been reported.

Dec 23, 2022 · Additionally, genetically engineered potato plants have attracted interest as a potential source of various products, such as modified starch, lipids, and recombinant proteins, including drugs and vaccines. To date, several genetically modified (GM) potato cultivars have been commercialized.

Instead of the regular 20/80 amylose-/amylopectin mixture in a typical potato, Amflora has been genetically modified to contain only amylopectin. This gives the starch superior properties for a variety of technical applications such as making glossy paper, binding concrete.
Here, we report the development of transgenic potatoes with enhanced nutritive value by tuber-specific expression of a seed protein, AmA1 (Amaranth Albumin 1), in seven genotypic backgrounds suitable for cultivation in different agro-climatic regions.
