Krujë (Albanian definite form: Kruja; see also the etymology section) is a town and a municipality in north central Albania. Located between Mount Krujë and the Ishëm River, the city is 20 km north of the capital of Albania, Tirana. Krujë was inhabited by the ancient Illyrian tribe of the Albani.

Krujë is a small city approximately 31 km (20 miles) north of the capital city of Tirana. While the region has been populated since the 3rd century BC, it was also home to the eponymous Alban tribe as well as Gjergj Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania.
The Ethnographic Museum of Kruja is housed within the Kruja Castle, in the Toptani family house built in 1764. As a first-category cultural monument, the museum showcases a comprehensive view of the trades practiced in Kruja and across Albania, as well as the way of life 300 years ago.
