If you use the POF app and don't log out but just swipe it off your phone screen when not using POF it probably will have it stating you're online because you haven't actually logged out. The same probably applies to a browser if you don't actually log out. Also, with the app it will show you as online when you're connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
