The Museum of the History of Catalonia (Catalan: Museu d'Història de Catalunya, MHC) is a history museum in Barcelona that promotes the awareness and knowledge of the history of Catalonia and its culture.

The Museu d'Història de Catalunya impressively shows the history of Catalonia from the Stone Age to the present day. The Museum of the History of Catalonia is located on Old Port (Port Vell), on the edge of the district Barceloneta and Barri Gòtic.
The History Museum of Catalonia opened its doors in February 1996 by decision of the Government of Catalonia. Unlike other museums, it was not the result of a need to display an existing collection but rather the desire to become a leading centre for popularising our collective history and heritage.
Situated on Montjuïc hill at the end of Avinguda de la Reina Maria Cristina, near Pl Espanya, the museum is especially notable for its outstanding collection of romanesque church paintings, and for Catalan art and design from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including modernisme and noucentisme.
