You can listen to YouTube Music with your Wear OS watch. Enjoy music anywhere using your watch, without needing to carry a mobile device with you. You can stream music over LTE or Wi-Fi, or you can download songs to your watch so that you can listen to music while offline. Leave your phone behind and workout to your favourite songs with YouTube Music on your wrist.

Tip: YouTube Music is supported on most watches running the latest version of Wear OS 2, or newer. All playback from YouTube Music should be 128 kbps bitrate AAC.

Here's what you can do with YouTube Music on Wear OS:

    • Listen to music using your watch connected to a Bluetooth accessory, like headphones.

    • Download music directly to your watch so you can listen without an Internet connection.

    • Stream music directly from your watch so that you can listen without a paired device nearby.

To get started, download the YouTube Music app to your Wear OS watch:

    1. Open the Google Play Store on your watch.

    2. Search for YouTube Music.

    3. Select the YouTube Music app to start downloading it to your device.

    4. Once the app is installed, sign in to your YouTube Music account to start listening to music.

From there, you can browse your library, workout suggestions, find your downloads and see personalised music recommendations.

To listen to YouTube Music without an Internet connection, download music directly to your Wear OS device:

    1. Open YouTube Music on your Wear OS watch.

    2. Tap the song or playlist that you want to download.

    3. Tap the download icon .

Tip: Turn on smart downloads to keep your watch automatically up to date with your favourite music. When you turn on smart downloads, your watch will automatically download music for you based on your YouTube Music listening history.

Tip: Bear in mind that the amount of music that you can download depends on the storage space thatyou have available on your Wear OS device.

To listen to YouTube Music without a paired device nearby, make sure that your watch is connected to Wi-Fi or a mobile connection.

Important: To use a mobile connection, you need an LTE plan from your provider. Mobile streaming is not supported on iOS.

    1. On your Wear OS watch, open YouTube Music.

    2. Tap the song or playlist that you want to listen to.

    3. The song will stream and play over the available connection.

Tip: To stream and play music over a mobile connection, you need available data. To save data, connect to Wi-Fi when possible.

To access your most recently played playlist or to quickly navigate to the browse page of the YouTube Music app, add the YouTube Music tile.

You can use YouTube Music on smart speakers, such as Google Home and Nest speakers.

Smart speakers will stream music for you that is closely related to the album, song or playlist that you request. They cannot play specific requests or repeat songs, unless it is music that you have uploaded. However, you can change radio stations to listen to different music and skip to the next song up to six times per hour.

If you use YouTube Music with ads, and you request a song that you uploaded to YouTube Music, you will be able to play that specific track.

Note: YouTube Music Premium members can listen ad-free on smart speakers, and request albums, songs and playlists on demand. Take a look at our paid membership options to explore other membership benefits and sign up.

Smart displays that have built-in Google Assistant can be used with YouTube Music. These include Google Nest and Lenovo Smart Clock. Just ask your Google Assistant to play a song, artist or playlist using YouTube Music.

For all Smart TVs and streaming devices that support the most updated version of the YouTube app on TV:

    2. Using your remote or controller, click to the left, which will open a menu on the left-hand side of your screen.

    3. Select Music from the menu – here, you will find your personalised YouTube Music content.

You will see only your personalised YouTube Music content if you're signed in to YouTube.

For one-click access to YouTube Music on your Android TV, you can also:

Now you can use your YouTube Music mobile app to control the search, browse or playback experience on the full YouTube app. While connected, your YouTube Music mobile app will function as a remote for YouTube on TV.

Note: With this update, content not normally available in YouTube Music may show up on the YouTube Music player page and queue, depending on what's playing and what's in your queue. When you disconnect, content not available in YouTube Music will be removed from your queue.
