Admissions Philosophy, Eligibility, and Standards. Whether your interest lies in international or corporate law, public interest or government, gender and sexuality law, or another area of study, a Columbia Law School education will support your goals and prepare you to lead the way.
Regular Admission. Applications for the fall 2025 class will open September 10, 2024, and are due February 15, 2025. Because applications are generally evaluated on a rolling basis, you should submit your application as soon as possible after September 10.
September–November: Fall recruitment season. September 10: Applications open for the J.D. program. October 1: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) forms may be submitted to the government, if applying for financial aid.

The application for students entering in fall 2025 opens on May 1, 2025, and the application deadline is July 15, 2025. Current law students who wish to take upperclass courses at Columbia, but do not plan to matriculate for the Columbia Law School degree, should apply for visiting status.
