- 1:38Michelle Obama tells Trump presidency just may be a 'Black job'Reuters VideosSTORY: :: Michelle Obama asks who will tell Trump the presidency just may be a 'Black job' :: August 20, 2024 :: Chicago, Illinois "For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. See his limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard working, highly educated, successful people, who happen to be black. I want to know who's going to tell them? Who's going to tell him. That the job he's currently seeking might just be one of those black jobs. Doubling down on ugly, misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people's lives." "America hope is making a comeback. It is now my honor to introduce somebody who knows a whole lot about hope, someone who has. Spent his life strengthening our democracy. And let me tell you, as someone who lives with him, he wakes up every day, every day and thinks about what's best for this country. Please welcome America's 44th president and. The love of my life. Barack Obama."3 hours ago

- 1:40'He has no empathy, no morals' says former Trump official at DNCReuters VideosSTORY: :: Former White House press secretary says Trump has 'no empathy, no morals' :: August 20, 2024 :: Chicago, Illinois :: Stephanie Grisham, Former Trump White House press secretary “I wasn't just a Trump supporter. I was a true believer. I was one of his closest advisers. The Trump family became my family. I spent Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's all at Mar-A-Lago. I saw him when the cameras were off. Behind closed doors, Trump mocks his supporters. He calls them basement dwellers." “He has no empathy, no morals, and no fidelity to the truth. He used to tell me, it doesn't matter what you say, Stephanie, say it enough and people will believe you." “On January 6, I asked Melania (Trump), if we can at least tweet that while peaceful protest is the right of every American, there's no place for lawlessness or violence. She replied with one word: No. I became the first senior staffer to resign that day. I couldn't be part of the insanity any longer. When I was press secretary I got skewered for never holding a White House briefing. It's because, unlike my boss, I never wanted to stand at that podium and lie. Now, here I am, behind a podium advocating for a Democrat. And that's because I love my country more than my party. Kamala Harris tells the truth. She respects the American people. And she has my vote. Thank you." Later in the evening, Republican Mayor John Giles of Mesa, Arizona, was due to speak. Conservative voters who dislike Trump have been one of the Democrats' hoped-for prizes. The challenge will be persuading them to get to the ballot box in November and vote for Harris, versus staying home or writing in a presidential candidate.6 hours ago

- 1:17Iran tried to hack Trump, Harris campaigns FBI concludesReuters VideosSTORY: US intelligence officials say Iran is to blame for cyber attacks on both American presidential campaigns. On Monday the FBI and two other agencies said in a joint statement - they had seen "increasingly aggressive" Iranian cyber activities this election cycle. They also said Iran had carried out influence operations to fan political divisions and, quote, "cyber operations targeting presidential campaigns." It backs up charges made by the campaign of Donald Trump earlier this month that Iran had hacked one of its websites. Those accusations triggered an FBI investigation. Trump, at that time, said Iran was "only able to get publicly available information." Officials also say that Iran targeted Kamala Harris's campaign, ahead of her Democratic presidential nomination acceptance this week. They revealed that Iranian operatives used social engineering to access key campaign figures, leading to theft and leaks aimed at swaying the election. Iran's mission to the UN dismissed the allegations as "unsubstantiated," insisting it has no intention or motive to interfere in the US presidential election.1 day ago

- 0:40Trump says he's open to naming Elon Musk to his CabinetReuters VideosSTORY: :: Trump says he is open to naming Elon Musk to his cabinet if elected in November :: York, Pennsylvania :: August 19, 2024 "(OFF CAMERA TRUMP IS ASKED WHETHER ELSON MASK WOULD HAVE A ROLE IN A TRUMP ADMINISTRATION) I would. He is very smart. I had a great talk with him the other day and as you know it went on for two and a half hours almost. And perhaps you listened, he is a very smart guy. If he would do it, I certainly would, he is a brilliant guy." :: He also said would consider ending a $7,500 tax credit for electric-vehicle purchases "Well, we are looking at that, that is a big thing but you know tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a good thing. You know they gave it to wind, and wind is putting us out of business. "I am not making any final decisions. I am a big fan of electric cars, but I am a fan of gasoline-propelled cars and also hybrids, and whatever else happens to come along. And you can't mandate that you can only buy an electric car." "Tax credits and tax incentives are not generally a very good thing," Trump told Reuters in an interview after a campaign event in York, Pennsylvania, when asked about the EV credit. Asked if he would consider naming Musk to an advisory role or cabinet job, Trump said he would. "He's a very smart guy. I certainly would, if he would do it, I certainly would. He's a brilliant guy," Trump said. Musk last month publicly endorsed Trump in the U.S. presidential race. Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment. If elected, Trump could take steps to reverse Treasury Department rules that have made it easier for automakers to take advantage of the $7,500 credit or could ask the U.S. Congress to repeal it entirely. While president, Trump sought to repeal the EV tax credit which was later expanded by President Joe Biden in 2022. "I'm not making any final decisions on it," Trump said of the EV tax credit. "I'm a big fan of electric cars, but I'm a fan of gasoline-propelled cars, and also hybrids and whatever else happens to come along."1 day ago
