[1] His career and influence were shortened by alcoholism, and ended with his early demise at the age of 33 from cirrhosis.

Jun 25, 2024 · It appears that Donna’s overall immaturity extended into the area of family finance. Consequently, there was never enough money to keep things running smoothly at the Berigan home no matter how much Bunny earned. As a result of both Bunny’s and Donna’s spendthrift ways, he and Donna were always short of funds.

May 13, 2018 · Although this relationship damaged Berigan’s marriage, it was only one of many factors that undermined that relationship. Bunny’s wife Donna, was an extremely immature young (nineteen years old) woman when she and Bunny married in 1931. For his part, Bunny was most unrealistic in his approach to marriage.
Yet, Berigan’s work as a sideman during 1931 to 1936, when many would say that he was at his most potent, were largely neglected by jazz reissue labels, until Mosaic released 151 of them as a 7-CD set, "The Complete Brunswick, Parlophone and Vocalion Bunny Berigan Sessions," in 2003.
