Ornamental Features. George Vancouver Rose is covered in stunning fragrant ruby-red flowers at the ends of the branches from late spring to late summer, which emerge from distinctive dark red flower buds. The flowers are excellent for cutting. It has dark green deciduous foliage.
George Vancouver shrub rose (Rosa ‘George Vancouver’), like many other shrub roses, is blooming now, and you can see its clusters of cherry red flowers in the north perimeter bed in the Rose Garden. Growing about 3 feet tall and wide, ‘George Vancouver’ is winter hardy to Zone 2 and 3, like all members of the Canadian Explorer rose series.
Description. The Explorer group was created by Agriculture Canada in the 1960s under the direction of breeder Felicitas Svejda. Her goal was to create roses that were hardy, disease-resistant, repeat blooming and easy to propagate from cuttings.
