Indra Sen Johar (16 February 1920 – 10 March 1984), better known as I. S. Johar, was an Indian actor, writer, producer and director, who excelled in comedic roles but is best known to international audiences for portraying Gasim in the epic film classic Lawrence of Arabia.

I.S. Johar. Biography. I.S. Johar was born on 16 February 1920 in Talagang (now Pakistan), British India. He completed MA degree in Economics and Politics before completing his LLB. In 1947, during the Partition crisis, Johar was visiting Patiala with his family for a wedding, when riots broke out back home in Lahore.
Known for his sharp wit and irreverent humour, I S Johar was one of the most popular comedians of his times, even creating a franchise in his own name. Born in a Punjabi Hindu family in Tollaganj (now in Pakistan), I.S. Johar grew up in Lahore and completed his MA in Economics and Political Science and his LLB.
