    Submissions to the Journal of Linguistic Anthropologyshould be based on original research and should engage substantively with contemporary issues (theoretical, analytical, methodological, etc.) in linguistic anthropology and allied fields of study. Submissions should not exceed 9,000-10,000 words (inclusive of notes but not bibliography). Other ki...

    All items that appear in the list of references must appear (i.e. must be cited) in the main text of the manuscript, and vice versa. Within the main text, references should appear in parentheses, showing the author’s surname, the year of publication, and, if applicable, the page numbers, e.g. (Smith 1997, 19-21).

    Tables should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the text. Each table should have a caption. All text in the body of the table and in the caption should be double-spaced.

    Figures must be camera-ready—that is, in the form of a digital file. All files should be at least 300 dpi and should be in TIFF, EPS, or Photoshop format. For initial submissions, digital files in jpeg or similar formats are acceptable. The author should be prepared to secure written permission for the use of any image.
