Dec 27, 2023 · 13th Colony Distillery was founded in 2009 in Americus, Georgia by a couple of guys who wanted to take the legal route to distill their own spirits. However, they didn’t fire up their own 250 gallon pot still until around 2011. The fact that they have a pot still is indisputable. There are pictures.
Based in Americus, Georgia, this southern distillery makes a statement at first glace thanks to a bottle design reminiscent of an Old Forester’s Birthday Bourbon bottle or pot stills. But looks will only get you so far. Thankfully the bourbon starts strong with a deliciously nutty and fruity nose.
Jun 22, 2021 · Thirteenth Colony Distilleries lays claim to being Georgia’s original craft distillery, producing spirits since 2009. Southern Rye Whiskey is aged in new charred oak barrels with custom toasted French oak spirals, and then cut with natural water from Georgia’s oldest aquifer.
Mar 13, 2018 · Thirteenth Colony first introduced its line of whiskeys – Tennessee, American and Rye – in 2012. Its Southern Rye Whiskey earned a Gold Medal in the 2013 Fifty Best Domestic Rye Whiskey. I got to try this rye – bottle 2212, batch 2014 (hand-numbered by head distiller Graham Arthur).

Tasting Notes: Thirteenth Colony Distilleries, Southern Bourbon Whiskey. Vital Stats: It has a 70% corn, 21% rye, and 9% malted barley mashbill. It is 95 proof. Aged in new charred oak barrels for no less than 48 months with an MSRP of $35.
