    Masaru Ibuka (井深 大 Ibuka Masaru; April 11, 1908December 19, 1997) was a Japanese electronics industrialist and co-founder of Sony, along with Akio Morita.

  2. Ibuka maintained a variety of interests outside work; he was an avid golfer, and from 1985 to 1994 he served as chairman of the Boy Scouts of Nippon. In later years he also served as president of the Japan Institute for Invention and Innovation, and of the Japan Audio Society.

  3. Mr. Ibuka was Sony's president from 1950 to 1971, then chairman to 1976, when he retired from active participation in the company and became honorary chairman.
