Strathmore is a town located in southern Alberta, Canada that is surrounded by Wheatland County. It is along the Trans-Canada Highway approximately 50 kilometres (30 mi) east of Calgary . History. The town began as a hamlet for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) lines that were built in the area in 1883.
Strathmore began as a community willing to give more when on July 28, 1883 Canadian Pacific forces manually laid 6.38 miles of track across the prairies to set a record.
