The popular Inverted Minors convention switches (or "inverts") the standard meaning of the strength of minor-suit raises. In "Standard," a raise from 1 to 2 (or 1 to 2) shows 6-9, while a raise to 3-of-the-minor shows 10-12 (limit).
Inverted Minors. Inverted minors flip the traditional meaning of single and double minor-suit raises. Playing inverted minors, a single raise of a 1 /1 opening bid is strong and a jump raise is weak.

Jul 2, 2020 · Larry Cohen explains this in his article on inverted minors, and I think that's a good starting place. 1N is a totally fine place in his system, which is pretty standard, if you don't have anything else useful to say - it defines your points, and denies 4C major support.

The main advantage of inverted minor raises is that they bid provides extra room for game and slam exploration. Most play that inverted minor raises is OFF over competition. Then, a single raise shows 6-9 HCP, a double raise is preemptive, and a double show 10+ HCP, with or without support.
