     I managed to find two working solutions to this problem. The first was a bit more complicated but I essentially created a wrapper class around Clock, so an interface with a method Clock getClock() which then had two implementations. One was the real bean that would just return Clock.systemDefaultZone() and a test bean that had a private Clock member that the getter would just return, but most important a setter like

     public void setClock(String dateTime) { this.clock = Clock.fixed(Instant.parse(dateTime), ZoneId.systemDefault());}

     I would then call this setter as part of step definition method by getting the bean e.g.

     @Given("now is {string})public void setDateTime(String dateTime) { applicationContext.getBean(MyWrapperClock.class).setClock(dateTime);}

     The 2nd method I found was much simpler, and was to simply mock the clock in the test configuration file e.g.

     @Bean public Clock clock() { return Mockito.mock(Clock.class);}

     And then autowire this in to the step definition class and just do a normal mockito when such as

     @Given("now is {string})public void setDateTime(String dateTime) { when(this.clock.instant()).thenReturn(Instant.parse(dateTime)); when(this.clock.getZone()).thenReturn(ZoneId.systemDefault());}

     The simplist example I have is:

     mylex.l

     main.cpp

     Then to build:

     > flex -o mylex.c mylex.l> gcc -c mylex.c> g++ -c main.cpp> g++ main.o mylex.o

     Notice the gcc to compile the mylex.c If you compile mylex.c with g++ it will be compiled as C++ (not C) and your extern "C" declarations in main would be wrong. Thus you need to compile the mylex.c and main.cpp with different compilers then link them together in separate steps.

     Version 2:

     Alternatively you can compile the flex code as C++ and remove the extern "C" from main.

     main.cpp

     Now Build like this:

     Notice this time I used g++ to compile mylex.c (which you could call mylex.cpp now).

     Now that you are using the same compiler it can be a one liner:

     > flex -o mylex.c mylex.l> g++ mylex.c main.cpp-

     1) Questions such as this should really be on ServerFault.

     2) 127.0.0.1 is localhost, not a publicly accessible address. Respectfully, if you didn't understand this, you should go back to shared hosting... you will end up spending more time learning to run a VPS than making your site work. (If you were just using 127.0.0.1 as a placeholder, then this doesn't apply.)

     3) Most individuals who don't have complex needs should probably just opt to use their domain registrar's DNS servers if available (e.g. NameCheap). If your registrar doesn't offer free DNS, your VPS provider almost certainly does (I know both Linode and Rackspace Cloud do). Regardless of where you are having DNS hosted, you need to use their name servers in your configuration, not addresses you invent. (You're not actually going to run your own name server with djbdns or BIND, right?)

     EDIT: Attempt to explain DNS after question clarification.

     Your question still isn't really clear, and I think it's because we aren't using the same terminology. DNS is a complicated system and you have to be very precise.

     Let me try to explain the how DNS hierarchies are arranged as relates to your situation.

     1) You register a domain, example.com. It is in the .com top-level domain (TLD). Each TLD has a single entity who manages the root nameserver for that TLD. In the case of .com, this is Verisign. When someone goes to look up www.example.com, they first talk (through a process that isn't really relevant here) to the TLD's root nameserver.

     2) The root nameserver returns the authoritative nameserver(s) for the domain (example.com). This is what I believe you are trying to set. According to the DNS specification, the authoritative nameservers are given by name, not IP. Since you (hopefully) aren't trying to run your own authoritative nameserver, you should give your registrar (who in turn tells the TLD root nameserver) the nameservers designated by your hosting company; these were supplied in the link I gave you in the comments (ns1.ixwebhosting.com, etc.). The reason these need to be names, not IPs, is that your hosting company may need to move IP addresses later. If you were allowed to enter an IP, and they switched IPs, your record would be out of date. By entering a name, the DNS system can properly resolve the authoritative nameserver name to an IP.

     3) The client interested in www.example.com, having obtained the name (and resolved the IP) for the authoritative name server for example.com (i.e., ns1.ixwebhosting.com), contacts the authoritative name server and requests the IP for www.example.com. The authoritative name server checks its records and returns the IP that you have told it. That is, you will use your hosting provider's interface (probably a web page you login to... contact them for assistance) to manage the subdomains for example.com, such as www.example.com.

     If you don't use hosted DNS, you have to run your own DNS server (e.g. BIND or djbdns). This introduces a whole set of other complications that are beyond the scope of your question. Please just use hosted DNS and let your provider deal with these issues.

     You will notice that nowhere here did I mention ns1.example.com. You only need to deal with such records if you are running your own DNS server, which you probably shouldn't be doing.

     So in summary:

     1) Tell your registrar that your domain uses your hosting provider's DNS servers (from the link I gave you).

     2) Tell your hosting provider to use your VPS' IP address for actual host names for your domain.

     The default precompiled headers name was stdafx.h for several years now. Lately, with VS 2017, they changed the default name the project wizard creates to pch.h. I don't know why but they did it.

     You can adjust the name of the precompiled header file in the Project Properties under Configuration Properties -> C/C++ -> Precompiled Headers. You can also enable or disable the use of them there. You can even define this on a per file basis. You can even configure multiple different Precompiled Header files in one project.

     So for you concrete question: There won't be any kind of issue replacing stdafx.h with pch.h in your tutorial. The tutorial is probably just older and hasn't been updated yet.

     You can use the built-in functions int() or float() to return the string as an int or float respectively and where appropriate.

     For example:

     amount = float(input("Enter amount:"))-

     Will set amount to a float constructed from the user input.

     Other Improvements

     Looking at the code you have provided, the other improvements you can make are as follows:

     Use // to divide and floor a number.

     For example:

     hundredDollar = amount // 100-

     Will set hundredDollar to a whole number indicating the maximum number of times 100 goes into amount. So, if the amount is 150, hundredDollar will be set to 1 as the amount is composed of one whole hundred dollar bill.

     Use str() when concatenating a number with a string

     When you concatenate (combine) a number with a string and the number comes first, you will need to first cast the number as a string. For example:

     str(hundredDollar) + " hundred dollar bills."-

     When a float is used and you want the output to display as an int i.e. 2 instead of 2.0 then you can either use the int() function or format the output. For example:

     print( int(hundredDollar), "hundred dollar bills." ) -

     Add validation for user input

     When receiving input from the user it is advisable to add some validation to check if the data entered by the user is as expected - in this case, is a valid amount. This can be done using a try and except block for the data type and if statements to check if the data is within a valid range or meets additional requirements.
