The Allen Centennial Garden is a free public garden on the grounds of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The grounds feature the Agricultural Dean's House, a brick Queen Anne-style home built in 1896, and the home of the first four deans of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
Located on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, these public gardens serve as outdoor classrooms in the study and research of plant identification, ecology and site management techniques in horticulture.
Allen Centennial Gardens sits on the corner of Babcock Road and Observatory Drive. Surrounding a Victorian mansion that sits on the National Register of Historic Places, this 2.5 acre Shangri la is one of my favorite Madison attractions.

The Allen Centennial Garden can look as though it was in England's Home Counties. It was designed by an alumnus of the University of Wisconsin's Landscape Architecture Department: Dennis Buettner. They are around a Victorian house and elements of English design were an obvious choice.
