Oct 12, 2022 · Jimmy Wales seemed to begin with high minded ideals for the site. He eschewed commercialisation of the site, and a potential income of tens of billions. The $400 million reserve is loose change in comparison to what Wikipedia would be worth on the open market. But Wales has allowed the site to be corrupted; not by money, but by political ideology.
That is the main problem with the site, Jimmy Wales doesn't give a shit as long as he's getting donations for his useless wikimedia projects. People need to realize the limitations of open source projects and why a strong leadership is always a neccessity for any open source project to not turn into a farce.
Nov 9, 2021 · But the aggressiveness with which they solicit donations does not match their need. The tactics they use to solicit donations completely turns me off from doing so. One scummy tactic they use is to write something catchy like the above (“Craig, this is Jimmy, signing off”) to have it fit in the snippet Gmail shows.
