This is the most famous movie theatre in the world and the sight of star studded film premiers. It began as Grauman’s Chinese Theatre then became Mann’s Chinese Theatre and in 2013 became TCL Chinese Theatre. The theatre design was inspired by the nearby successful Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre and modeled on the appearance of a Chinese pagoda.

Opened: May 18, 1927 by Sid Grauman (1879-1950) as his second theatre in Hollywood -- the first was the Egyptian, opened in 1922. The Chinese has remained a major first run venue since its debut.
