Oct 28, 2019 · My first corporate job was with Digital Equipment Corporation. I worked in the printer group, on PostScript technologies. It was common then to simulate the Digital logo by scaling Helvetica and superimposing it in white onto colored rectangles. But I knew that was inaccurate, and it gave a bad hacked-up impression.

This stacked version of the Digital Equipment Corporation logo was used briefly alongside the more well-known rectangular logo below for several years until the early 1960s. Digital Equipment Corp was acquired by Compaq in 1998, thus ending operations. In 2002, Compaq (in turn) was bought by HP, finally ending the Digital trademark.
