The Lviv High Castle or Lviv Castle Hill is currently the highest point in the city, 413 meters (1,355 ft) above sea level. The castle currently stands in ruins. These hills are also part of the main European water divide that splits rivers feeding the Baltic and the Black seas. As a result, Lviv is divided into the Baltic and the Black Sea parts.
Lviv High Castle. The path up to the top is well maintained and kept free of leaves. The entire area, like the rest of the city is totally free of litter. The view from the top is well worth the climb, which is not too strenuous ( we are all over 70). Refreshments are available from three cafes in the car park at the bottom of the footpath.

Watching over Lviv from its northeastern fringe is High Castle Hill, the perch for the eponymous castle dating to 1250 but dismantled in the 19th century. The hill crests at 413 metres, and setting off on foot from Market Square it takes about 25 minutes to reach the top.
