The Freddy Jones Band is a roots rock band from Chicago, Illinois. Band members have cited as their influences Duane Allman, Eric Clapton, Little Feat, Mark Knopfler, and Bob Dylan. Despite the band's name, none of the bandmembers is named Freddy Jones; according to a 1992 interview, guitarist Wayne Healy stated it was "inspired by a big fat comic strip character named Freddy."
Though touring dominated their schedule from the late 2000s onward, the Freddy Jones Band returned to the studio for albums such as 2015's Never Change as well as singles like 2023's "Mirror Ball" and a 30th anniversary version of "In a Daydream."
The Freddy Jones Band traces its roots back to the late 1980s when Marty Lloyd, original and founding member, gathered musicians to bring his songwriting vision to life. Inspired by his experiences and surroundings, Lloyd penned the iconic song “In a Daydream,” which would later become synonymous with the band’s sound.
