Bleecker Street has unveiled official trailer for Dream Horse (2021). The film tells the true story of Jan Vokes (Academy Award® nominee Toni Colette), a Welsh cleaner and bartender, who decides to breed and rear a race horse. She persuades her neighbors and friends to contribute financially to the scheme.
May 21, 2021 · “Dream Horse” is a dramatization of a hit documentary from a few years ago, “Dark Horse” (better title, IMO), and like a lot of fictionalized versions of true stories, this one tends to flatten out some of the idiosyncrasies and make things feel a bit more like what’d happen in a commercially viable art house picture that adult children can see with their parents on a Sunday afternoon.
The film tells the inspiring true story of Dream Alliance, an unlikely race horse bred by small town bartender, Jan Vokes. With very little money and no experience, Jan convinces her neighbors to chip in their meager earnings to help raise Dream and compete with the racing elites. Their investment pays off as Dream rises through the ranks and becomes a beacon of hope in their struggling community.
