   How did Whistler Mountain start?

   • Inspired by a trip to the 1960 Squaw Valley Olympics, Franz Wilhelmsen formed Garibaldi Lift Limited, which led to the launch of Whistler Mountain in 1966. In fact, Whistler's first bid for the Games started in 1961. There was no road and nothing developed but there was a vision. The rest, they say, is history.
