Jan 20, 2007 · Tracks 5--14 on this album were originally recorded by Davis in Paris for Louis Malle's noir flick 'L'Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud' and they're as good as any music he ever made. Haunting, virtuosic, lean and simply gorgeous with bursts of quiet tenderness.

Kenny Clarke. Known as "Klook" and as one of the most important pioneering bebop players, he recorded with Miles in the early 1950s for Prestige; after moving to France and becoming a primary member of the Parisian jazz scene, he recorded with Miles on the Elevator to the Gallows soundtrack.
