Award-winning playwright, poet, screenwriter, novelist, essayist and educator, Guy Gallo may be best known for his screenplay adaptation of Under the Volcano, the cult classic by Malcolm Lowry published in 1947 but considered “unadaptable for film” until Gallo’s version was discovered by John Huston in the early 1980s.
