    Sandy Fries is a television writer who wrote the Star Trek: The Next Generation first season episode "Coming of Age". He also served as story editor on The Next Generation for episodes such as "Angel One" and "Too Short A Season", Star Trek: Voyager, and on the video games Star Trek: Borg, Star Trek: Secret of Vulcan Fury, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

    Two in-universe names referenced on Star Trek were in Fries' honor: Admiral Sandy Fries and Captain Sandy Fries.

    Fries was born in New York City and earned a BA in journalism from Clark University in Worcester, MA. He also received a MS from Columbia University, where he was awarded with a NBC fellowship.
