Studebaker was an American wagon and automobile manufacturer based in South Bend, Indiana, with a building at 1600 Broadway, Times Square, Midtown Manhattan, New York City.
Over the next 62 years, Studebaker would eventually produce cars at plants in South Bend, Detroit, and Hamilton, Ontario among other locations. In addition to wagons, the museum preserves a marvelous selection of Studebaker’s automobiles, known for their quality, design and variety.

In 1926 Studebaker became the first automobile manufacturer in the United States to open a proving ground. That same year, a new small car, the Erskine Six, was launched in Paris. Termed “the Little Aristocrat,” it sold well in Europe, but failed to catch on in the United States.
