St John's College, formally the College of St John the Evangelist in the University of Cambridge, [4] is a constituent college of the University of Cambridge, founded by the Tudor matriarch Lady Margaret Beaufort. In constitutional terms, the college is a charitable corporation established by a charter dated 9 April 1511.
St John's was founded in 1511 and is one of the largest Colleges in Cambridge. Its former students include Nobel Prize winners, Prime Ministers, scientists, artists, and leaders in business and industry.
Opening times: 9:30am - 4:30pm. Chapel services information. Entry into St John's College is via the Great Gate which is located in St John's Street, Cambridge, CB2 1TP. Site information and risk assessment for groups. Tourism charges from 1st July 2024. Adults - £15. Children (12-16) - £8.
