Kirsty Leigh Coventry Seward (born 16 September 1983) is a Zimbabwean swimmer and politician currently serving as the Minister of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation in the Cabinet of Zimbabwe since September 2018.
Kirsty Coventry is Zimbabwe’s top Olympian, having won seven of the country’s eight Olympic medals to date. One of the world’s top backstroke and medley swimmers, she won three medals in the 2004 Olympics, including a gold in the 200 m backstroke.
Kirsty has made it her mission to help decrease drowning statistics. Swimming is the only sport that can save a life, which is why the Kirsty Coventry Academy’s Learn-to-Swim and HEROES programs teach children about water safety and drowning prevention.
