The Providence Lying-In Hospital (later known as Women & Infants Hospital) is a historic hospital building in Providence, Rhode Island. The main building is a 4 + 1 ⁄ 2 -story Gothic Revival structure which was designed in 1922 by Edward Stevens of Stevens and Lee and completed in 1926.
Providence Lying-In, located at the General James Estate on Slocum Street in Providence, was exclusively a maternity hospital where women could safely deliver their babies. Two years later, we relocated to the corner of State and Field Streets, eventually outgrowing the building.

A request was sent to Cyrus Butler, who agreed to donate $40,000.
