Sonny Dykes is the head coach of TCU Horned Frogs, who made the College Football Playoff and the CFP National Championship in his first season in 2022. He also led SMU to three consecutive winning seasons and developed several NFL players and draft picks.

Dykes received 37 of 46 first-place votes and 120 points from AP Top 25 voters to become the second TCU to win the award, which is presented by Regions Bank.
