This 1894 Dentzel carousel is a central feature in Coolidge Park. The antique carousel was restored by local master wood carver Bud Ellis and a devoted team of craftspeople and volunteers at his studio "Horsing Around" located near Chattanooga.
Visiting the carousel was on my list, but I happened to stumble upon it while walking around town. It is located near the river's edge in a park with a beautifil animal-themed fountain. The carousel is gorgeous. I especially loved the historic ticket booth still located in front. I am happy to see this history has been preserved.

Channel your inner child and enjoy a ride on the historic horse carousel. Take the free electric shuttle to North Chattanooga which drops you off about 1 block from the carousel. Then walk back to Chattanooga over the pedestrian bridge. Total cost: $1!
