The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail begins near the confluence of the Susquehanna and Lackawanna Rivers in Pittston, however the first developed section of trail is in Taylor 6.5 miles north of the confluence near Keyser Creek. The trail continues north through the city of Scranton for 7 miles utilizing paved sections and the levee system.

The trail begins at the river’s confluence with the Susquehanna River at Duryea and Pittston in Luzerne County. It travels through Lackawanna County and joins the Delaware and Hudson (D&H) Rail-Trail in Simpson, managed by the Rail-Trail Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
