When aspiring songwriter Joe Howard (Mark Stevens) sells one of his songs to beautiful but cunning singer Lulu Madison (Martha Stewart), she steals credit for the composition but attempts to placate him by inviting him to go on tour with her. Joe agrees to be Lulu's piano player, leaving behind Katie (June Haver), his guardian's niece.
