Clint, a Confederate Army hero whose parents were murdered by carpetbaggers after the Civil War, has joined Quantrell's Raiders, a group of guerrillas. After Quantrell is killed, Clint and his friend Willie Martin are captured by Union troops led by Captain Andrews, and they are sentenced to 20 years at hard labor.
