Feb 4, 2000 · Mary's husband has recently passed away and Rhoda has finally left hers -- so they end up moving in together in New York City and trying to rebuild their lives. Both of them have to find jobs: Rhoda goes to work as a photographer's assistant; Mary takes a job producing news segments on a less-than-reputable TV news operation.
Now, both single with college-age daughters -- Mary's Rose is a student at New York University and Rhoda's Meredith is pre-med at Columbia -- they reestablish their friendship. They're taking on New York City and the challenges of finding new careers at a difficult time in their lives.
