Balkan immigrant Nina Novak (Anne Shirley) talks her way into a job as the singer in a New York City jazz band led by Nifty Sullivan (Ray Bolger) after front woman Opal (June Havoc) quits to spend more time with her mob-connected beau (Jack Durant).
