His best known songs are Three O'Clock Blues (1948), Reconsider Baby (1954, later covered by Elvis Presley) and Tramp (1967, and as a duet by Otis Redding & Carla Thomas). His 1960s recordings on the Kent Records label were released as Lowell Fulsom.
