John Henry Hoeven III ( / ˈhoʊvən / HOH-vən; born March 13, 1957) is an American banker and politician serving as the senior U.S. senator from North Dakota, a seat he has held since 2011. A member of the Republican Party, Hoeven served as the 31st governor of North Dakota from 2000 to 2010.
Biography. On January 5, 2011, John Hoeven was sworn in as North Dakota’s 22nd U.S. Senator, following ten years of service as the state’s governor. Senator Hoeven’s priorities in the Senate include working to implement national policies similar to the ones driving North Dakota’s economic success.
