Sigurd Ring var konge av Vestergøtland, Uppsala og flere svenske kongedømmer, bl.a. Skåne, Sjælland, storparten av det øvrige Danmark, Viken i Norge, d.v.s. Bohuslen, Østfold, Vestfold, deler av Telemark og Agder, etc. Han kjempet mot sin fars halvbror Harald Hildetann i slaget på Bråvollene ved Bråviken nær Norrkøping i Sverige.
