The Interview is the second episode of Peep Show's first series which was first broadcast on 26 September 2003.

Mark becomes increasingly frustrated that Jeremy shows no inclination to get a job. Jeremy laments that "there just aren't that many jobs in the media these days." He is infuriated when Mark suggests he get a job that doesn't involve the media. Mark resolves that he will organize an interview for Jeremy at his credit management company, JLB.

Jeremy goes through Mark's stuff while he is at work and finds a cartoon fantasy magazine with a sexy fairy on the cover. He assumes that this magazine is what Mark uses for porn, and he proceeds to use it to masturbate, fantasizing about having sex with a fairy while he is an elf.

Mark finds a cute cartoon from his work crush Sophie and decides to draw a cartoon in response for her. He gets annoyed when the best cartoon he can think of is a drawing of a clown-like man. He thinks, "What is that? That is very gay." He decides to draw something "edgy" and as a result draws a cartoon of one stick figure giving another stick figure a large heart with a swastika on the inside. "Love is for Nazis", Mark thinks.

He eventually freaks out, wondering if Sophie thinks he's a Nazi, but it turns out that Sophie thought the picture represented their boss, Barbara giving Sophie a bonus, because Barbara is known for being racist. Mark gets Sophie's number and looks forward to calling her.

Jeremy doesn't want the job because he is opposed to the cubicle lifestyle, plus Toni has offered him a job pyramid-selling cleaning products. He purposefully messes up on the interview, which involves saying he is looking for a "relaxing" job and pretending to have a facial spasm. When Mark scolds him, he blurts out "At least I don't fancy elves and pixies."

Later, Mark decides to finally call Sophie, and ends up singing the lyrics, "Then I go and spoil it all by saying something stupid like, 'I like you'." He is humiliated about the voicemail, but Jeremy tries to comfort him. The next day at work, he tells Sophie that he likes her, and she should deal with it or "f--- off". Sophie laughs and says she can handle him liking her. Mark is happy until he gets into the elevator and his rival, Jeff as he sings the same song he sang to Sophie on the phone, indicating Sophie told Jeff about the message.
