I'd like to see you in action in space, not in a simulator. Commandant: They're ready for combat maneuvers in real fighters. We'll divide into two flights, red wing and blue wing, with weapons set at the lowest level. They'll get knocked around a bit but their shields will protect them.

Wing Commander Academy is a 1996 American animated television series produced by Universal Cartoon Studios, along with a team led by Larry Latham. The show was based on the Wing Commander franchise and loosely served as a prequel to Wing Commander.

Sep 21, 1996 · Red and Blue. S1 E1: In the year 2655, a group of new graduates of the Space Naval Academy replaces the crew of a refurbished ship to complete training, but members find themselves taking part in a very real battle against the Kilrathi.
To test their skills, Commodore Tolwyn splits the new cadets into the Blue Team led by the promising Christopher 'Maverick' Blair and the Red Team led by the hotheaded Todd 'Maniac' Marshall, but a traitor tries to sabotage the war games.
