The Phone Call is the fifth episode in the first season of the original series, The Wonder Years. It first aired on ABC on April 12, 1988.

Kevin begins to have a crush on an attractive girl in his class named Lisa Berlini. He wants to call her on the phone, but is ultimately nervous to do so. At the school cafeteria, he gets Paul to see if he can ask one of Lisa's friends if she's really into Kevin, unintentionally causing Lisa to find out about Kevin's secret crush on her. After going into hiding and pretending to be ill in order to avoid going to school, Kevin tries to call up Lisa on the phone, but decides to wait until after dinner, while the rest of the family is watching the crew of Apollo 8 transmit the first live pictures of Earth from the Moon on TV. After a few instances of further hesitation, Kevin finally works up the courage to call Lisa.
