From a Spark to a Flame is the first episode of the first season of the Paramount+ original supernatural drama, Wolf Pack. It aired on January 26, 2023.
A raging wildfire lures out a murderous werewolf. A bus full of teens are injured. A father goes missing. A hard-nosed investigator looks for the arsonist.
Garrett is driving down the road during the early morning when he discovers a raging wildfire in the mountains.
Meanwhile, on the freeway, Everett speaks with his psychiatrist over the phone whilst seated on the school bus currently halted in the road. Everett wants to take another Ativan, but Dr. Weiland advises him against it and assures Everett that he's doing everything right despite is overwhelming anxiety. Unfortunately, Dr. Weiland is forced to cut their session short as his building is being evacuated. Now turning his attention to the fire, Everett asks Connor why the bus stopped, but no one knows. Joining the other students on the bus, Everett looks out to the roaring fire in the distance. He notices drivers abandoning their cars, causing his anxiety to flare and his hand to tremor, which doesn't go unnoticed by Blake, who, unlike the rest of the bus, does not have a phone and therefore does not receive the school-wide text announcing that classes have been canceled and that schools are being shut down. As for why Blake doesn't have a phone, she claims it's a personal preference, along with not having a computer or email.
Austin reveals that they're evacuating Altadena and Eagle Rock, the former being Blake's home. Blake asks to borrow Phoebe's phone to send a message to her brother, but after not having spoken to one another in over a year, Phoebe turns Blake away. Fearful that the fire will soon reach the road, Austin demands for the bus driver to let them out and even begins to record her should she continue to refuse. However, Blake takes his phone and throws it out the window, forcing Austin to get off the bus to retrieve his phone, at which point, he and the other students on board observe as wildlife comes running out of the fire towards the road, causing panic and chaos among the students and commuters.
After helping Connor off the bus, Everett watches as many are attacked and trampled in their attempt to escape the area. Austin comes running towards him and tells Everett that something is out there, just before being pulled away. While attempting to escape the pandemonium, Everett spots a large beast. Meanwhile, Blake frantically tries to escape death herself, saving Everett in the process as he is nearly killed by a speeding car. After helping him to his feet, she tells him to run as she herself takes off in the opposite direction, though not before Everett takes notice of not only her bite mark, but his own as well, both having seemingly been attacked by the same creature.
Blake makes her way home, where she is startled by the neighbor's dog Diesel before being scolded by her father for not carrying a phone or being home to help with her brother, who points out the blood on Blake's shirt. With the shelters filling up fast, Roberto tells Blake to hurry up. So, she heads to her room, where she takes notice of her acne scars and the bite mark on the left side of her lower back.
Everett arrives at the already overwhelmed hospital, where the lobby is filled with victims such as himself. He spots both Connor and Austin before being approached by Nurse Hughes, who asks what animal bit him, to which Everett replies that it was a wolf.
